And if you take a peek outside, the dominant colour is a churning shade of grey. And it's not one of those steamy 50 Shades either! It's just the dreary shades of an already cold and frozen January.
Lucky for us, the fashion world is all about colour, colour, colour! So we're busy escaping the winter pall by warming up with mood lifting inspiration from the upcoming colours of spring and summer.
In our Studio, we're always surrounded by lovely bits of inspiration that Chloë finds to imagine, develop and create the colour palettes for each new fashion and home decor collection that she designs.
"As a designer, I'll use anything from Pantone colour forecasts to a weekend stop at my local paint store to find inspiration and catch a glimpse of the future's most sought after colours," says Chloë.
And believe it or not, the fashion industry works so far ahead that we're already basking in the warmth of colour inspiration for Spring/Summer 2019! And all that colour has us feeling upbeat and inspired, despite the cold greys outside.
So now it's your turn to shed some light on this cold month of January. Just look for the flash of warmer colours in new places that will stimulate your imagination.
Why not get cozy at home and let colour be your focus? Wrap up in a warm blanket (maybe one of ours), snuggle into your favourite chair and enjoy the colourful pages your favourite fashion magazine (ours is always Vogue).
Or try your favourite home decor magazine. Both will be brimming with warm colours and hot looks for the upcoming season that can inspire your creativity and let your mind escape the cold.
Or if you're brave, bundle up (maybe layer on a Spirit Wrap) and get yourself out to the local art gallery or to a museum you'd love to see. There you can get lost in the inspiration of colour all around you!
And a bonus tip: try playing 'colour forecaster' for yourself. Pick some of the wonderful colours you find as you escape the grey and then guess which ones will be popular next season. In springtime, see how you did!
And look, if that doesn't work, maybe those steamy 50 Shades are more your thing. Canadians get their freak on when the temp is so low. But no judgment here; get creative and do whatever keeps you warm!
